Single Title: 悲しみトワイライト [Kanashimi TOWAIRAITO; Sadness Twilight] So this is actually Yossie's last MoMusu single, not "Egao YES Nude". But that's alright. I love Yossie. And I love this song. Single Title: Sweet Impact "Sweet Impact" has a 90's feel, similar to "make a secret", but it seems very BoA. However, it's not as good as BoA's older singles, such as "VALENTI", and it more like an album filler track. For her next single, I'd prefer her to do something in the same vein as "Dakishimeru". Single Title: Get チュ－！/ SHEの事実 [Get Chuu!/SHE no Jijutsu] It's hard to get up with all AAA's releases. "Ger Chuu!" is in the vein of many of their early singles; upbeat, summery. "SHE no Jijutsu" is more rock influenced, and I prefer it over "Get Chuu!" However, it's more of an album filler track. Single Title: FUNKY TOWN I thought that this might be a cover of Lipps Inc's "Funkytown", but it's not. Instead it's a blend of Namie's "Queen of Hip-Pop" style, mixed with "CAN'T EAT, CAN'T SLEEP, I'M SICK". I think that the chorus is catchier than "CECSIS", and it's a pretty good tune to dance to. Single Title: アンフォゲッタブル [Unforgettable] Finally the Melons have a new major release. I thought that this song was going to rockish, with, I don't know, a sexy feel. However, it's got more a disco vibe. It's a nice song, but it's not "unforgettable". I'm not sure this song was strong enough for a single. I'm glad that they released something new, though. GAM [24 Mar 2007|08:20pm] [ mood | chipper ] [ music | GAM-- "LU LU LU" ] The Great Aya and Miki strike again! Single Title: LU LU LU GAM is still going strong. Which is good, since Aya and Miki have great voices. This song has the same tempo as "Melodies", but is more old school, plus more string synths. Asuca Hayashi -- 林 明日香 [24 Mar 2007|08:09pm] [ mood | chipper ] [ music | Asuca Hayashi-- "Kokoro no Mama ni" ] Asuca's first single on her new label! Single Title: 心のままに [Kokoro no Mama ni] Asuca apparently got dropped by Toshiba-Emi. That's why there hasn't been any new music from her until now. "Kokoro no Mama ni" was used as a drama theme. Yuna Ito -- 伊藤由奈 [24 Mar 2007|07:58pm] [ mood | chipper ] [ music | Yuna Ito-- "I'm Here" ] Yuna's awesome R&B dance song! Single Title: I'm Here Yuna is pretty well known for her ballads, but I'm glad that she did an up-tempo dance song for the Unfair movie. I'm grabbed right from the beginning of the song, which starts with strings. I really like the dramatic feel that the strings and piano add to this driven R&B dance tune. I love it muchly. XD The B-side "Reason Why" is also in the similar vein of music, and is all in English (of course Yuna's fluent, but I'd thought I'd mention it). The remix of "Faith" (the original version was the theme song to the Unfair drama) reminds me of "losin'", but it's kind of weird. Now on a random note, after listening to the instrumental version of "I'm Here", I say give the woman doing background vocals her own song, because she sounds great! Hitomi Shimatani -- 島谷ひとみ [24 Mar 2007|07:29pm] [ mood | cheerful ] [ music | Hitomi Shimatani and Masayuki Suzuki-- "Futari de Ii Ja nai" ] Hitomi's new album! :D Album Title: PRIMA ROSA 01：Ramblin' -- This is nice opening track... it's more like Hitomi's style prior to the "crossover". I don't like the guy in the background saying, "Rambin' rose", though. 02：君の声 [Kimi no Koe; Your Voice] -- Cool, "Ramblin'" fades into the next track. It's kind of like happy anime's ending theme. 03：晴れた日は… [Hareta Hi wa...; Sunny Day] -- This track has a old school feel, and the chorus reminds me of another song... but I can't figure it out. 04：Dragonfly -- The guitar has a surf feel, there's a cool synth part, and a somewhat Latin-y chorus. Overall, it's got a cool rock feel. [From the "Dragonfly" single] 05：サイケデリック＊フューチャー [Saikederikku*Fyuuchaa; Psychedelic*Future] -- Actually, rather an psychedelic rock, this reminds me more of "Dancin' in the Streets", with the horns and stuff. 06：Camellia -カメリア-（PRIMA ROSA Version） -- I call this "Camellia", the wedding version. The original version made me think of the wedding reception, but the beginning of this version is slowed down, and is therefore the actual wedding ceremony. Then the song shifts over back to almost the same original arrangement (there are most strings though), until close to the end. Very nice, although I like the original version better. 07：Destiny -太陽の花- [Taiyou no Hana; Sun's Flower] -- This is one of my most favorite Hitomi songs ever. It ranks right up there with "Perseus". I love the use of actual strings, as opposed to a synthesizer. I love the melody. I love it all. [From the "Destiny/Koimizu" single] 08：プラハの女 [Puraha no Onna; Prague Woman] -- Wow, this song is pretty cool. It has this cool gypsy feel. I guess that this falls under her crossover style. I like the melody of the verses, but the chorus feels a bit rushed. 09：恋水 -tears of love- [Koimizu] -- I used to think that this song was pretty boring, but I like how relaxing it is. A good slow ballad. [From the "Destiny/Koimizu" single] 10：PASIO～パッシオ -- A great Latin themed dance song. Reminds me of her earlier style of music. However, it easily fits in with "crossover" music. [From the "PASIO" single] 11：El Dorado -- Yay, another Spanish themed song. It's a little less "dancy" than "PASIO", and a bit more driven. But I like it. 12：春待人 [Harumachibito; Person Waiting for Spring] -- A nice mid-tempo song, with a slight classical, but Japanese feel. [From the "Harumachibito/Camellia" single] 13：Brand new Dream -- A nice slow pop song, that Hitomi wrote the lyrics to (she also wrote the lyrics to "Hareta Hi wa..." and co-wrote "Koimizu". 【Bonus Track】 14：ふたりでいいじゃない/鈴木雅之&島谷ひとみ [Futari de Ii Ja nai; We Aren't Good Together/Masayuki Suzuki & Hitomi Shimatani] -- I heard a lot of bad things about this song, but it's not that bad. It kind of reminds me of a disco song, and I kind of like that. [From the "Futari de Ii Ja nai" single] Overall, it's a pretty good album. The only songs that will need to grow on me are "Kimi no Koe", "Hareta Hi wa..." and "Brand new Dream". I either love or like all of the others. Ami Suzuki -- 鈴木 亜美 [17 Mar 2007|04:18pm] [ mood | bored ] [ music | Ami Suzuki joins Kirinji-- "Sore mo Kitto Shiawase" ] Ami Suzuki joins Kirinji Single Title: それもきっとしあわせ [Sore mo Kitto Shiawase; That's Also Very Happy] Well, Ami, I'm sorry to say that your "joins" project, well, didn't do well. This is a boring ballad. It's kind of filler-track-ish, and I could see this as the last track of an album. This single isn't "shiawase" - it's "tsumaranai". Koda Kumi -- 倖田來未 [17 Mar 2007|04:10pm] [ mood | bored ] [ music | Koda Kumi-- "Aisho" ] Kuu's new single! Single Title: BUT/愛証 [Aisho] Hmmm... "BUT" seemed promising from the preview, but it's very repetitive. It's very urban and something one would hear at a dance club. "Aisho" seems like it would one of typical ballads, but it's actually got a guitar solo, and has more of "rock" feel than any of her other ballads. Yay. I like "Aisho" better than "BUT". Nami Tamaki -- 玉置成実 [17 Mar 2007|04:02pm] [ mood | bored ] [ music | Nami Tamaki-- "CROSS SEASON" ] Nami's first single after her best album! Single Title: CROSS SEASON Do not be fooled by the (scary) covers. I thought that maybe Nami was going for a more mature sound. But no. Well, the arrangement of the song is kind of like Hitomi Shimatani's crossover style (think "Camellia"). The tempo is medium. The chorus is kind of blah. Overall, this song is just kind of boring. Ayumi Hamasaki -- 浜崎あゆみ [15 Mar 2007|10:45am] [ mood | busy ] [ music | Ayumi Hamasaki-- "Moments" ] Ayu's second best album(s)! Album Title: A BEST 2 - BLACK - 01. Dearest -- The "BLACK" album opens with one of my favorite Ayu ballad's of all time. Each track has been remastered, therefore, this version does seem a little tweaked. But it's still great! 02. CAROLS -- I've always thought this ballad was a little too boring, though. And the "i"'s in "shiroi", for example, are still ear piercing. 03. No way to say -- A little more of a driving ballad, that's good. :) 04. HANABI -- Okay, this is my favorite Ayu ballad ever. The only thing is, since it is remastered, the bass is even longer than it was in the original, which makes is sound weird. But I love the lyrics to this one. 05. walking proud -- I liked this one better in the Panasonic commercial. I remember watching it over and over again. But then when "MY STORY" came out, it seemed rather bland. 06. Free & Easy -- Ooo, this one is cool, because it starts off quiet and builds into this awesome-- oh, I don't know what to call it. But it's awesome. 07. Endless sorrow -- Yay, finally, the original version of this song on an album! The "Gone with the wind version" on "I am..." just isn't as great as the original version. Well, actually, it's been remastered, so it's not quite the original version, but you know what I mean. 08. Because of You -- I used to get this one confused with "GAME", because I got the "Memorial address" album around the same time "GAME" was released. It's a nice rock inspired song. 09. About You -- This one's pretty cool, but I liked it better in the Morinaga commercial. 10. GAME -- Oh look, it's GAME! Well, at least "About You" was in between "Because of You" and this. It's also I nice rock inspired song. 11. is this LOVE? -- ... yet another rock inspired song. One of my favorites of this "genre" of her's. 12. HANABI ~episode II~ -- The sequel to "HANABI" only less depressing and with "WHOA"'s. 13. NEVER EVER -- The first version I ever heard of this song was a remix, so actually used to it more the normal version. Heh. 14. HEAVEN -- This is nice ballad, but that part that I like starts at 1:37. Much Love. <3. 15. part of Me -- This is the only new song on both A BEST 2 discs. It's kind of like "Will", but more in the style of her "normal ballads". Very good. Make sure not to stop the CD after this song! There is a bonus track! Highlight to read: It's Memorial address! Without the talking! I'm glad that she included this too. Album Title: A BEST 2 - WHITE - 1. evolution -- Now onto the White Album! (Ha ha, Beatles reference). Anyway, much love to this song. I'm glad it was chosen for an opening act. It starts off light, but that turns into this awesome rockish track. 2. Greatful days -- But I don't really care much for this song... skipping! 3. independent -- It's without "+", which is my favorite part of the song. Well, I love the clapping too, though. Oh well. 4. Humming 7/4 -- This song starts off great, but the chorus kills it. "Everybody go everybody jump!" Um no, sorry Ayumi. 5. UNITE! -- Yes! Awesomes once again. I'll admit it - I know the dance steps to the ARENA TOUR 2002 tour's performance of this song. 6. Real me -- "A woman could be dangerous, a woman could be generous". Although the Engrish is humorous, I still <3. 7. my name's WOMEN -- Haha, how funny! The women enpowerment songs are back to back! I love 'em both. 8. ourselves -- I love, love the intro to this. And the verses. But I have something against the chorus. It rubs me the wrong way. 9. INSPIRE -- Yay! I loves this song too! :D 10. STEP you -- This song is pretty good too. 11. July 1st -- Skipping~ I have never liked this song, like ever. 12. fairyland -- The "July 1st" sequel! Back-to-back! But I actually like "fairyland" so it's okay. :D 13. Voyage -- I like the string arrangement, but the chorus is a little too chirpy for me. 14. Moments -- OMG, one of my favorite Ayu songs ever! <3 <3 15. A Song is born -- Hmmm.... I think that I actually like the version with Keiko better. Adds character. "Moments" would have been a better song to end with. Overall, yay for A BEST 2! If you don't own any Ayu CDs at all, you should check these out (and the original A BEST as well). I think that the tracklist for WHITE could have been better, though. Angela Aki -- アンジェラ・アキ [07 Mar 2007|06:16pm] [ mood | bored ] [ music | Angela Aki-- "On & On" ] Angie's new single! Single Title: サクラ色[Sakurairo; Cherry Blossom Color] And so Angela Aki returns after her debut album. Guess what "Sakurairo" is. A ballad. It's nice and uplifting, but it's kind of her standard fare. I like the reference (both lyrically and musically) to her first single "Home". "On & On" is more driven, and there is also more of a "rockish" feel, due to the guitars. Single Title: キャンディ・ライン[Candy Line] Hitomi returns with a pretty rockin' theme to an anime. It kind of gives the feeling for upbeatness, but at the same time it has a very driving chorus. Single Title: Peaceお届け!! ハート [Peace Otodoke <3] This time Ami joins THC!!, which was a much, much better choice than BUFFALO DAUGHTER. This song is pretty catchy. It kinda gives me a feeling of the beach. So it's a summer rock song, basically.
